Maybe this is why the State Gaming Commission has fined Hollywood casino for not paying out. A better time would be to hop on a bus to A.C., stay for free in a nice room during the week, have comps between $25-$50 and come home with some 'cha ching' in your pocket. They used to give you between $10-$20 to play with and now it's down to $5 bucks, 2 pulls and that's gone! After losing thousands of dollars over the past 3 years and never winning more than $200, I am considering giving it up. The machines in the non smoking area are lousy and if you can stand to choke on smoke in the smoking area, the slots are a little more interesting. You plug in $20 after $20 trying to get a bonus and when you do, it pays a whopping $2-$10 dollars. Yes it's big and nice, but don't go there expecting to win anything. Being a 'senior' I can't afford to play the table games or the dollar machines. However, since they put in the table games the slots went TIGHT! I hear this from others around me. It used to be fun and you could actually win on the penny slots.
It remains home for Charles Town gambling from its small population of just over 6 000. The only casino is Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races, founded in 1933 shortly after the legislature allowing pari-mutuel betting was passed. I have been going to Hollywood since they opened at least once per month sometimes twice. Charles Town was founded by the youngest brother of George Washington, Charles Washington.
